CCPA Purchasing Partners, L.P., is a group purchasing organization that negotiates competitive discounts on products and services on behalf of its physician members. CCPA Purchasing Partners was formed in 1999 in response to the rising cost of vaccines for primary care physicians in the community. Because community-based physicians were not eligible to access national group purchasing agreements, Children’s Community Physicians Association (the pediatric IPA affiliated with Children’s Memorial Hospital) decided to form a limited partnership that offers discounts on products and services that are commonly used among primary care physicians. Being a limited partnership also allows practices to receive a financial administrative award each year based on their purchases with each vendor.
