For physicians: Diagnostic & Consultation Service
Offered to referring physicians through the hospital's Division of General Academic Pediatrics, our Diagnostic and Consultation Service provides consultations for complex pediatric medical issues without a clear diagnosis.
It is a fast, simple way for physicians to have patients evaluated and entered in to the Children's Memorial Health System. The service serves as a second opinion source; it does not assume primary care of any referred patients.
If a consult is beyond the area of expertise of the division, the service can help make an appropriate referral to another Children's Memorial sub-specialist. No subsequent referrals are made without the primary care physician's approval. The service strives to see patients within one week of referral. Written and phone reports are made promptly to referring physicians.
