General academic pediatrics

The Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Children's Memorial Hospital provides primary care for children and adolescents at our outpatient center in Lincoln Park and in the Uptown community. Division faculty members also supervise the care of children admitted to the in-patient units of Children's Memorial Hospital on the general medicine (non-subspecialty) service. In addition, members of the division offer specialty care services including:

  • Diagnostic and consultation services for second opinions and difficult diagnostic situations
  • A lead program for the evaluation of lead exposure and poisoning
  • Neurofibromatosis services for the evaluation of children and families with NF-1 or 2
  • Normal newborn care at Prentice Women's Hospital at Northwestern Memorial Hospital
  • Nutrition evaluation for over- and under-weight children
  • Protective Services Team for evaluation of possible child abuse and neglect

Members of the division also participate in the Children's Memorial Hospital ethics consultation program and palliative and hospice care programs.
