Food Allergy Community Education program (FACE)
With generous financial support from Food Allergy Initiative (FAI)-Chicago, the Division of Allergy and Immunology is now offering the Food Allergy Community Education (FACE) Program. The FACE Program provides research-based food allergy education in Chicago area communities, free of charge, to help create a safer environment for children. (Downloadable flyer available here.)
The program provides the community with a food allergy community educator, who will provide training and educational presentations to staff and parents in a variety of settings, including:
- After-school programs
- Camps
- Day care centers
- Faith-based groups
- Preschools
- PTA meetings
- Schools
Educators Christine Szychlinski, APN, CPNP, and Katy Schmeissing, MS, RN, have a combined 25 years of experience caring for children with food allergies and providing education in the hospital and community setting.
