If your child has been diagnosed with diabetes, you and your family may experience surprise, anger, sadness and disbelief.

We can help.

By offering medical consultation, diagnosis, education, advice, guidelines and support, our doctors (pediatric endocrinologists), nurse practitioners, nurses, nutritionist, social worker and medical psychologist help you and your child learn to live successful lives.

Your child receives a comprehensive, individualized treatment program, which teaches the basics of diabetes care. It also includes follow-up outpatient education sessions, a parent-support group, regular phone contact and many other educational materials. Many of our caregivers are certified diabetes educators.

In September 2010, three Children's Memorial endocrinologists joined the pediatric diabetes program at La Rabida Children's Hospital. Certified by the American Diabetes Association, this nationally noted program is a “Center of Excellence for Use of Advanced Therapies in Pediatric Diabetes Treatment” and is led by Anita Swamy, MD, and co-directed by Rose Briars, ND, PNP-BC, CDE. We want to help you and your child develop the best skills to make diabetes more manageable. That why we also arrange teen retreats, holiday events, support groups, exhibitor fairs, research and lecture programs. Learn more about diabetes »
