The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine
provides comprehensive services in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology,
utilizing extensive expertise and state-of-the-art technology. Consultative
services are provided across the
country in collaboration and coordination with the
hospital's medical, surgical and ancillary departments. The complexity of
the children served
represents a large cross-section of diagnoses.
The department's mission is:
- To provide comprehensive and specialized pediatric laboratory services
utilizing state-of-the-art technology and expertise.
- To support the clinical, educational, and research activities of
Children's Memorial Hospital.
- To promote research, both basic and applied, of pediatric relevance.
- To educate medical students, interns, residents and fellows in all aspects
of the subspecialty of Pediatric Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
Patients and their families can access our comprehensive laboratory services
at the main hospital or at the Children's Memorial Outpatient Center in Lincoln
Park.
