What is X-ray?

A form of electromagnetic radiation to view the inside bones and organs of the body.

What is it used for?

To diagnose and treat fractures, to view pathology and how organs in the body are functioning.

How long does it take?

distraction device

A distraction device, such as this tank of water with fish that glow, helps soothe and relax children.

Depending on the type of exam ordered anywhere between 10 minutes and one hour.

What happens during the exam?

You and your child will be greeted by our radiographer (x-ray technician) who will escort you to the exam room. Your child must remain very still during the exam.

What happens after the exam?

Once the images are taken, you and your child may leave. Our radiologist interprets the images and a report is sent to your doctor.
