Music therapy internship
Children's Memorial is the place where kids come first. Our care extends well beyond clinical treatment. We treat the whole child, practicing family-centered-care.
As a music therapy intern, you are part of a team that plays an integral role in a child's healing process. You are directly supervised by board-certified music therapists through the hospital's Children's Services Department.
Academic requirements
To be considered for the music therapy internship, you must meet the following criteria:
- Have completed all undergraduate or equivalency coursework from an accredited music therapy program.
- Supply a letter from your academic director verifying your eligibility for the internship. For more information on approved academic programs, please visit www.musictherapy.org.
- Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale ("B" average or better).
- Have documented music therapy practicum experience.

Future application deadline dates have not yet been established.
Application and fee
Your completed music therapy internship application and a non-refundable fee of $10 (made payable to "Children's Memorial Hospital") should be submitted to the address listed on the application.
Timing
The fall 2012 music therapy internship runs 24 hours per week, approximately 10 months (September 2012 through June 2013). Exact internship dates are decided with the student and his/her school and are based on the hospital's orientation schedule.
Contract
Children's Memorial and the intern's school will sign a contract defining mutual rights and responsibilities. The contract will be sent upon acceptance to the internship program. The music therapy internship director will work with the intern's school to communicate progress as required.
