APNs offer advanced educational expertise to the nursing staff.

We offer an extensive orientation process for new APNs to help transition them to there new role.
  • Our APN council is organized for educational purposes, and more specifically for disseminating information pertaining to advanced practice nursing practice at the hospital. The council consists of several subcommittees established to provide leadership opportunities and representation on hospital-wide committees.
  • To maintain professional standards in the care of patients, the hospital requires APNs to be credentialed. Credentialing consists of verifying current licensure, relevant education and competencies. This process is completed through the Medical Staff Office.
  • Our APN group has multiple leadership representation in national organizations, including, but not limited to, the following:  Sarah A. Martin, RN, MSN, CPNP-PC/AC, CCRM, Associate Editor of the Journal of Pediatric Health Care; and Lauren Sorce, RN, MSN, CCRN, CPNP-AC/PC, FCCM (Fellow of the American Society of Critical Care Medicine).
  • Our APNs have received awards for research, health improvement projects, and published many journal articles representing our expertise and dedication to the children and families we serve.
